Using Basal: Ten Therapeutic Perspectives

Share a thought and see it reflected back through ten different therapeutic frameworks — from CBT to Stoicism.

Basal is a reflective writing tool built into Sunu's Health Tools marketplace. Share a thought, worry, or moment you're working through, and Basal will respond through ten therapeutic frameworks — giving you a range of perspectives in one place.

How It Works

Step 1: Open the Home tab

Step 2: Scroll to the Health Tools carousel

Step 3: Tap Basal

Step 4: Share what's on your mind — a thought, a feeling, something you're trying to work through

Step 5: Basal processes your entry and returns ten distinct perspectives, each grounded in a different therapeutic framework

The Ten Frameworks

Each response draws from a different tradition. You'll see perspectives shaped by frameworks like:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Stoic philosophy
  • Existential therapy
  • Psychodynamic thinking
  • Mindfulness-based approaches
  • Logotherapy (meaning-making)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Narrative therapy
  • Positive psychology

Different frameworks surface different insights. Reading across all ten often shows you angles on your own thought that you wouldn't have considered.

Free Tier and Sunu Plus

Basal has a monthly usage quota on the free tier. If you use it regularly and want unlimited access, Sunu Plus removes the quota entirely.

  • Free: Limited number of Basal sessions per month
  • Sunu Plus: Unlimited sessions

If you hit the quota on the free tier, Basal will prompt you to upgrade to Plus.

Privacy

Entries you share with Basal are processed securely to generate each framework's response. Nothing you share is used to train models or surfaced to anyone else. You can delete any session from your Basal history at any time.

When to Use Basal

Basal isn't therapy — it's a reflective tool. People use it most for:

  • Working through a decision or dilemma
  • Getting unstuck on a recurring worry
  • Journaling with more structure than a blank page
  • Seeing a difficult situation through fresh lenses

💭 Reflection Prompt

If you're new to Basal, try starting with something you've been turning over recently — even a small one. Reading ten different takes on the same thought is often where the insight lands.
