Taking the Voice Biomarker Test
Learn how to perform a voice analysis test to record acoustic characteristics of your voice.
This test records acoustic patterns in your voice including frequency, amplitude, and timing characteristics.

Before You Start
For Best Results
Environment:
- Find a quiet place to minimize background noise
- Close windows to reduce external sounds
- Turn off fans, TV, or music
- Notify others you need quiet for 15-30 seconds
Phone Position:
- Hold your phone about 6-12 inches from your mouth
- Keep it steady throughout the recording
- Speak toward the microphone (usually at the bottom)
- Avoid covering the microphone with your hand
Preparation:
- Be prepared to speak for at least 10-15 seconds
- Clear your throat beforehand if needed
- Have a glass of water nearby
- Be in a comfortable, relaxed state
Accessing the Test
Step 1: Navigate to the Home tab
Step 2: Scroll down to find the Health Tests section
Step 3: Tap on the "Voice Analysis" card
Step 4: Read the instructions on the screen
Performing the Test
The test involves two parts that you'll perform consecutively:
Part 1: Sustained Vowel Sound
What to do: Say "Ahhhh" in a steady, comfortable tone
Duration: About 5 seconds
Tips:
- Use your natural speaking pitch
- Don't strain or force the sound
- Keep the tone steady and consistent
- Breathe deeply before starting
Part 2: Natural Speech
What to do: Continue by speaking naturally about your day
Duration: Another 5-10 seconds
Suggestions for what to say:
- Describe what you did today
- Talk about your plans for tomorrow
- Mention what you had for breakfast
- Discuss the weather or how you're feeling
Tips:
- Speak in your normal conversational voice
- Don't read or recite memorized text
- Use natural pacing and rhythm
- Be authentic and relaxed
Recording Your Voice
Step 1: Tap the microphone button (🎤) at the bottom of the screen to start recording
Step 2: The button will turn into a stop icon, indicating recording is active
Step 3: Perform both voice tasks:
- Start with "Ahhhh" for 5 seconds
- Transition smoothly to natural speech for 5-10 seconds
Step 4: Tap the stop button (⏹️) when you are finished
After Recording
Processing Your Sample
Once you stop recording:
- The app will automatically upload your voice sample
- Analysis begins immediately
- This may take 10-30 seconds
- You'll see a progress indicator
What's Being Analyzed
The system examines acoustic features including:
- Pitch and frequency characteristics
- Voice stability measurements
- Speech timing patterns
- Harmonic patterns
- Frequency distributions
- Amplitude variations
Tips for Optimal Results
Voice Condition
Best conditions:
- Well-hydrated (drink water before testing)
- Rested voice (not after long conversations)
- Normal health (not during illness)
- Relaxed throat and vocal cords
Avoid testing when:
- You have a cold or sore throat
- Voice is hoarse from shouting
- Immediately after waking up
- Very stressed or emotional
Technical Quality
Phone placement:
- Consistent distance from mouth (6-12 inches)
- Avoid moving the phone during recording
- Hold steady or use a stand
- Don't tap screen while recording
Audio quality:
- Ensure microphone isn't blocked
- Clean microphone if dusty
- Check volume isn't too low
- Avoid wind or fan noise
Speaking Technique
For sustained sound (Ahhhh):
- Start at comfortable volume
- Maintain steady pitch
- Don't crescendo or diminish
- Breathe deeply before starting
- Relax jaw and throat
For natural speech:
- Use conversational tone
- Speak at normal pace
- Don't whisper or shout
- Be expressive and natural
- Complete full sentences
Common Issues & Solutions
"Background Noise Too High"
Solution:
- Move to a quieter location
- Close windows and doors
- Turn off air conditioning/heating
- Wait for external noise to pass
"Recording Too Short"
Solution:
- Ensure you speak for at least 10 seconds total
- Don't rush through the test
- Hold the sustained sound longer
- Add more natural speech
"Poor Audio Quality"
Solution:
- Clean your phone's microphone
- Move closer to the phone (but not too close)
- Speak louder (but still naturally)
- Check microphone permissions are granted
"Voice Not Detected"
Solution:
- Speak directly toward the microphone
- Increase volume slightly
- Ensure microphone isn't covered
- Check app permissions in Settings
When to Test
Best Times
Daily baseline: Morning after waking and having water
Before/after events: Track changes around stressful periods or illness
Regular intervals: Weekly or bi-weekly for trend tracking
When feeling different: Notice vocal changes or emotional shifts
Testing Frequency
Minimum: Once per week for baseline tracking
Optimal: 2-3 times per week for pattern recognition
Maximum: Daily if monitoring specific condition
Privacy & Data
Your Voice Recording
Storage:
- Recordings are processed and then deleted
- Only analysis results are saved
- Raw audio is not permanently stored
- Data is encrypted during transmission
Usage:
- Used solely for your health analysis
- Not shared with third parties
- Not used for voice identification
- You control all data through the app
🎤 Pro Tip
Test at the same time of day and in the same location for most consistent results. Your voice naturally changes throughout the day, so maintaining consistency helps identify meaningful changes.
