Understanding Your Blink Test Results
Learn about the metrics recorded from your MBI analysis including blink rate, interval, and duration measurements.
After completing the Blink Test, you will see a detailed report with measurements of your blink patterns.
Key Metrics Explained
Maximum Blink Interval (MBI)
What it measures: The longest duration of time between two consecutive blinks during the test.
Measurement unit: Seconds
Average Blink Rate
What it measures: The number of times you blinked per minute, on average.
Measurement unit: Blinks per minute (bpm)
Factors that affect it:
- Screen time
- Environmental conditions (wind, dry air)
- Concentration level
- Current activity
Symmetry Score
What it measures: The consistency of your blinking between your left and right eyes.
Scoring: Percentage from 0-100%
Average Blink Duration
What it measures: The average amount of time your eyes were closed during each blink.
Measurement unit: Milliseconds (ms)
Clinical Metrics Dashboard
The results also include a "Clinical Metrics" section with additional measurements:
Spontaneous Blinks
Definition: Normal, natural blinks that occur without conscious effort.
Measurement: Percentage of total blinks
Partial Blinks
Definition: Blinks where the eyelid did not fully close over the eye.
Measurement: Percentage of total blinks
Average IBI (Inter-Blink Interval)
Definition: The average time between all blinks throughout the test.
Measurement unit: Seconds
IBI Variability
Definition: A measure of how consistent the timing is between your blinks.
Measurement: Statistical variation in timing
