Connecting to Apple Health: A Step-by-Step Guide
Learn the importance of connecting Apple Health, what data types the app requests, and how to manage permissions.
The power of Sunu's AI comes from its ability to analyze your health data. Connecting to the Apple Health app allows Sunu to securely read your information and provide personalized insights.
Your data is processed on your device and is never shared without your permission.
How to Connect
Step 1: After signing in, you will see a screen titled "Connect to Apple Health."
Step 2: Tap the "Enable Health Access" button.
Step 3: The official Apple Health permission screen will appear. This is controlled by iOS, ensuring Sunu can only access what you allow.
Step 4: For the best experience, tap "Turn On All" at the top. This allows the AI to see the full picture of your health.
Step 5: Alternatively, you can scroll through the list and enable individual categories you are comfortable sharing.
Step 6: Tap "Allow" at the top right corner.
What Data We Access
Sunu requests read-only access to key areas of your health data to provide comprehensive insights:
❤️ Vitals & Heart
Heart Rate, Blood Pressure, Oxygen Saturation, Respiratory Rate, and more.
🏃 Activity & Fitness
Steps, Workouts, Active Calories, Distance, VO₂ Max, and Exercise Minutes.
😴 Sleep
Sleep stages (Deep, REM, Core), sleep duration, and time in bed.
🩺 Clinical Records
Medications, Conditions, Allergies, and Lab Results that you have synced to Apple Health from your healthcare providers.
You Are Always in Control
You can change which data Sunu has access to at any time:
From iPhone Settings:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone
- Go to Health > Data Access & Devices > Sunu
- Toggle individual categories on or off
From Sunu:
- Go to Profile > Data Sources > Apple Health
- Tap Manage Permissions
- Adjust your settings in the Health app

No problem! You can connect to Apple Health at any time by going to the Profile tab and tapping on Data Sources.
