Using the Camera to Start a Chat

Learn how to capture images of food or scan barcodes to begin AI conversations about meals and medications.

You can use your device's camera to capture images of food, ingredients, or scan barcodes, and then use that information as the starting point for a conversation with the AI.

How to Use the Camera

Step 1: From the Home tab, tap the floating Camera Button (📷) at the bottom of the screen

Step 2: The camera view will open. You can:

  • Take a photo of a meal, ingredients, or a nutrition label
  • Scan a barcode on a food product or medication package

Step 3: After capturing an item, it will appear in a tray at the bottom. You can capture multiple items in one session.

Step 4: When you're finished, tap the arrow button (→) to proceed

From Capture to Conversation

After you proceed, the app will analyze your captured items and present you with an analysis screen. This screen is a new chat, pre-loaded with the context of your items.

What Happens Next

The AI provides an initial analysis:

  • Identifies the food items or products
  • Estimates nutritional information
  • Summarizes what it found

You see suggested prompts related to your items:

  • "Is this healthy?"
  • "How many calories?"
  • "What can I make with these ingredients?"
  • "Any allergens in this?"

You can ask follow-up questions as you would in any other chat.
